How to use it
Enter the team's total cost and total prizes for the settlement period, then list each member's share. Shares do not need to add up to 100: entering 40, 30, 20, 10 gives exactly the same result as 4, 3, 2, 1, because the tool converts them to percentages in proportion. You can add up to 12 members.
The calculation
Member's amount = (Team prizes − Team costs) × Member's share ÷ Total shares
A positive figure is the profit that member receives. A negative figure is the loss that member bears. Note that what is divided is the net result: costs go back to whoever actually paid them first, and only the remainder is split by share.
Check before you settle
- What counts as cost: has everyone agreed whether it is entries only, or travel and accommodation too?
- Is the data complete: are every member's re-entries and fees included?
- Who fronted the money: this tool shows what each person should end up winning or losing. The actual transfers still need adjusting for the costs each person has already paid and the prizes each has already collected.
